It’s been a great week for Detroit hip-hop. Producer Hir-O knocks it out the park with this production that Valid does a service on alongside the opening verse from none other than Elzhi in this smooth listener. “Bottled” a tale of trapping things inside, is not only a message can I relate to but this record has these two emcees sounding syrupy together in the musical sense. Jessica Care Moore is no slouch with her spoken word and throughout “Bottled” & I soon became focused on the whistling sound that carries it way throughout as it drew me into its unique way of getting stuck in my head. Enjoy this one above!

Lazarus - “Break The Walls” ft. Lady Legha

For an artist, longevity is rarely achieved without an ability to adapt and deliver different sounds. New directions, twists, and turns sonically are often witnessed in those who stick around in the music world. Well today, we aren’t just speaking on the musical world but instead the whole world. Detroit’s Lazarus pairs up with Lady Legha in a powerful new record that delivers a song that might not sound like more recent Lazarus records like “Decapitation Chamber” feat. Ghostface Killah or “Leatherface” feat. Bizarre, Hopsin, & King Gordy, however the new song packs a strong message. In a world will leaders and governments want to build walls Lazarus is here to break them down, the positivity here resonates with those of us who believe we are all in this together versus those who try to divide us. “Break The Walls” is a powerful public service announcement with an infectious upbeat and positive feeling production and Lady Legha pairs for a great assist on the chorus. It truly goes to further show the versatility of Lazarus an artist and emcee on a quest for the unity of all people.

Take in “Break The Walls” above and if your in the Detroit area on March, 21st, 2020 see Lazarus perform alongside Wu Tang Clan & The Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Info here: https://www.dso.org/events-and-tickets/events/wu-tang-clan-x-dso/fe
