Nametag Alexander & Black Bethoven Team Up For “Hello Victory” EP.

Published

on

With the release of Nametag Alexander’sHello Victory” EP, the veteran emcee celebrates accomplishment and laments his experiences on the road to success. The follow up to 2016’s “Metal Letter EP“, the emcee’s collaboration with VA producer JR Swiftz, finds Nametag reconnecting with gifted producer & also brother, Black Bethoven (see “The Soul System” from 2010) for an EP full of braggadocio and casual retellings of encounters on the road to success. From the opening “5 Minutes ‘Til Show“, Tag makes it clear that he has a little more to say than normal and that he’s committed to going there with his audience. He covers topics such as the early demise of his mother, to dealing with his father’s sobriety in the aftermath of growing up with his addiction on “The Chapters“. The only time Nametag departs from working out his own inner demons, briefly touching on topics like anxiety, is when he reminds his audience exactly why he’s one of the best on tracks like the Mahd assisted “Own Lane” & the all bars assault “Interlude” proving that whatever trophies Nametag Alexander has, he’s earned. “Hello Victory” is available now on all major platforms to stream and download music.

Nametag Alexander – “Work. Win. Repeat.” The EP

“Nametag Alexander follows up his most recent effort Hello Victory, with “Work. Win. Repeat.” The EP. The body of work was influenced by the mantra single of the same title from 2019, originally produced by Black Bethoven, featuring Junii. With duration being only 18 minutes, and change, ‘Tag manages to display just enough artistic vulnerability on tracks like “Dusk” and “Soul Speak”, while still maintaining his known lyric bravado on “Grands.” The “just stay focused” mentality is what makes the EP relatable, and there’s a clear intent to inspire based on the Les Brown clips throughout a few of the songs. Overall, Nametag properly delivers with this EP as “Work. Win. Repeat.” defines continuous self improvement, opposed to winning solely to impress others.”

A Return From Hiatus, Detroit Emcee Miz Korona Delivers "The Virus" EP

It has been said that inspiration can be found in the strangest of places sometimes and for one Detroit emcee that proves no truer than now. COVID-19 aka Coronavirus, has effected billions on a massive scale as humanity faces one of its most daunting tests to date. At first weary of the situation, Miz Korona was hesitant, however the encouragement of her peers has driven a return for the aptly named emcee.

A six song burst of new music titled “The Virus” has the legendary bar slinger back at it like she never left, as she takes us on a journey just shy of sixteen minutes that never peels back. By the end of the her return she is making damn sure we “Respect The Name“, the standout track amongst fierce company before she has us questioning if “45” is going to let us stay alive.

For a spur of the moment comeback, “The Virus” proves Miz Korona can disappear for a few years and still come back with a batch of pure quality like it was nothing. Thankfully, her peers have pushed for the timely return as we all experience this pandemic together and the new EP is a thoroughly enjoyable record perfect for your quarantine playlist.

On top of an outstanding showing from Miz Korona, the production & features here pack a powerful roster including Chanes, Mark Cooper, Marv WonDJ Static, King Gordy, LaShaun Phoenix, Maestro and Neco Redd.
