COMMi$$ION

Published

on

COMMi$$ION (Joe Commisso) has spent half his life embedded in hip hop one way or another & is driven towards making a positive impact on the art form any way he can contribute. From early beginnings he entered the Detroit hip hop scene as a graphic artist designing for a variety of local rappers. All this well secretly honing his own records behind the scene & building a network of driven artists like him by his side to develop their sounds. In 2009 the network became a team & the brand behind it all became Sparkhop. A blog slash label aimed at promoting quality hip hop & most of all bringing together the Detroit hip hop community in a constructive positive way. From founding Sparkhop, running a successful blog, & putting on Sparkfest – a 40+ act local hip hop all day festival for 3 yrs running Joe Commisso was constantly wrapped in rap around the Detroit area! Unfortunately life happens & in late 2013 he was forced to step away from it all & take a bit of a hiatus. Still in the background & still constantly on the search for new hip hop he stayed silent for a few years. Bring on 2018, a new alias COMMi$$ION to spread his own raps & a new hunger to get back to helping showcase all the talent Detroit has to offer any way he can. Back & ready to spread, build, & create he is ready show the world what Detroit & it’s musical melting pot of talent has in store for years to come!

Never be afraid to re-invent yourself. Abe from DET is a tale of an artist’s rebirth. Bringing “NRGY” to the table the Detroit lyricist wastes no time making a statement as he crashes back into the orbit of hip-hop. Under his new persona, the artist formally known as KO 88 of infamous 88 comes back with an abundant amount of energy with bars that pack a deep, insightful, look into the life & views Abe has in store for us. The production proves excellent beat selection and is the perfect complement to five and a half minutes of powerful verbiage. Undoubtedly more is in-store and we will be steadily on the lookout for more incoming music from Abe from DET.

Monsta feat Young Dro “Spazzin”

Monsta feat Young Dro "Spazzin"

Straight from Monsta himself: Born and raised in Detroit. I’ve been loving music ever since I can remember. I remember listening to Busta Rhymes and Mystikal and reciting their verses word for word and thinking “I can do that!” Busta and Mystikal were huge influences in the way that I honed my musical style, I was also heavily influenced by Master P and the innovation he brought to the way music was marketed. I draw inspiration from guys like Ice Cube, 50 Cent as well just based on how they were able to take the music and expand on it in so many ways that have influenced the culture. Ever since then I’ve had a passion for the rap game. My sound is definitely hip hop but I pride myself on not sounding like anyone else. I’ve been inspired by a lot of artists; from a lot of genres and eras. I believe that as my music is heard a reflection of everything will be present.

My biggest accomplishment outside of being a father would have to be my single Spazzin which feature Young Dro produced by AK for K & Square Music. Also, my other project “Eat Off The Ground” with Project Pat is yet another piece or work I’m extremely proud of. However, I believe this is my best work to date. My mixtape “Pressure” hosted by Fat Joe will be released around the new year. The features are ridiculous; Young Dro, Payroll Giovanni and Drey Skonie.
