Valid & Stretch Money Drop Official Music Video for “Sentimental” Feat. Kelly Kerr
Earlier this month we were treated with one of the biggest records to grace 2023. A powerful collaboration of talented artists that have been staples in the Detroit scene and beyond for years. This one just hits differently when you take it all in and take it in you must.
“Sentimental” has two of Detroit’s finest emcees stepping outside of their normal comfort zone and embracing a retro-feeling, 80’s flashback, vibey-overload of mass sonic proportions. Together Valid & Stretch Money have truly delivered something special, and the infectious vocals of singer Kelly Kerr joining along give us an anthem destined to make waves.
On top of a trio of artistry, which we get to experience vocally, the song’s production is also a product of legends. Produced by Chuck Cross and overseen by platinum-credited Grammy Award-winning DJ Head of Shady Records as well as Grammy-Award-winning engineer Anthony Rizzo, the song’s back-drop is orchestrated with pure quality.
It’s a combination of many talented individuals coming together to give us something fresh, well also embracing a feeling that is flashback worthy of simpler days.
Now we get to experience the visuals. When I say this video paints the perfect picture, Valid, Stretch Money, & Kelly Kerr are the 1000 words that picture is worth. Director Jerry Reid outdoes himself and provides an immaculate scene for “Sentimental” with pinball machines, workout gear, and a video that I could easily have seen taking over MTV & VH1 in the days they actually played music videos.
This isn’t one to miss folks, and I would have to agree with DetroitRap.com’s own Uncle P who called it on this one during last Tuesday’s Live show! This record is destined to take the world by storm. Take it all in above!
