KID JAY ROCKS OUT WITH STEVE HARVEY!!!

Uncle P: We have had the privilege of watching you grow as an artist. How did this connection between you and Steve Harvey come about?
Kid Jay: Last year I was one of the mentees in the Steve Harvey Program and I got to talk to him, Charlamagne and Jeezy. I showed them my poem I wrote about George Floyd and how I work with kids on the Autistic Spectrum and they loved it. Charlamagne Tha God told me "your positive message is needed in hip hop". It felt good hearing good things about me coming from other rappers in the game that I look up to like Jeezy.
Uncle P: What did it feel like to have someone with the stature of Steve Harvey gravitate towards you?
Kid Jay: It meant the world to me because I grew up watching the Steve Harvey Show so obviously I'm a big fan. So for him to fly me out to speak to the youth felt so unreal, I wouldn't change the experience for anything .
Uncle P: Tell us about the most recent experience that you had with Mr Harvey?
Kid Jay: We were at the Mentoring Camp in Atlanta and they had their own Basketball tournament going on. Mr. Harvey was a coach and I thought it was hilarious how serious he took the games.
Uncle P:  You have been thrusted into being a role model and a mentor for young people. Is it hard? What challenges have you had with yourself still being young and figuring life out?
Kid Jay: It's a lot of pressure that comes with being a role model, but I'm willing to take on that responsibility because at the end of day what I'm trying to do is save and encourage our youth. I know I still have a lot to figure out about myself, but everybody is a work in progress and If I can be the one to help the youth progress even farther than I will.
Uncle P: Do you find it challenging to be a positive force in the music industry when it seems like all your peers want to hear is music that doesn't necessarily utilize or feed the soul in a productive manner?
Kid Jay: Yeah, because right now music has a specific sound and that's the type of music listeners wanna hear because they're used to it. I've always said as long as music sounds good to the ear, I love it and one day everybody else will because my music is GOOD.
Uncle P:  What's Harvey's favorite song of yours?
Kid Jay: Golden Child, he likes the old school beat because it got that West Coast Feel.
Uncle P: Tell me about this record you just dropped with your brother?
Kid Jay:  I dropped a track with my brother just for fun and everybody went crazy for it all over Facebook and Instagram. We spent like 3 hours recording it laughing, trying to figure out what we were gonna say, but I'm glad we did it because my brother is my best friend.
Uncle P: We are just over halfway done with 2022. How do you plan out closing the year?
Kid Jay: I plan on dropping a new song every 2 weeks for the rest of the year because I wanna be more consistent
