Paradime “PERIOD” New Album

1. UNCLE P: Man, when I caught wind from Pat you was working on some new music i had some heavy anticipation building up. When you invited me to the listening party i got upset thinking folks was about to hear this before me, lol but i appreciate you sending me the project. Dime, this has to be one of the dopest bodies of work I have heard in a while.

Tell me how all this came together, was it conceptual from the start? Did you just start recording some tracks. How did you choose the tracks or producers that made this project one that will be talked about for a very long time?  I NEED ANSWERS BRO!!!

PARADIME: It really wasn't meant to be man.

I was done with rap and rapper bullshit and my focus was on fixing all the messes I made in my younger years, and providing a good life for my wife and kids. The thing is tho.. Music is my blood.. and even when I was done "rapping" I still was knockin Illmatic, I still was coppin any Guilty Simpson or Marv Won or Apollo project.. I still get goosebumps when I play "Hey Young World".. You can't turn that off. So I always was creating, just never planned on putting it out. I was just making music because it's what I do.

When it came to tracks and producers? Man, Apollo is one of my closest friends, so that is a no-brainer, and Peace of Mind, like I would hear something and hit him and be like man, can I rock on that? Never meaning to put it out but just wanting to breathe on somethin I'm feelin. Pat Deegan is my guy, so I always have my ear to the streets when it comes to music he is dropping so a few Foul Mouth joints I was like "Man that shit is hard lemme get that!!" and Pat would laugh and be like "Man why!?? You aint ever gonna put the shit out man!!" But the 2 cats who I really owe this to is Charlie Beans and Wayne Gerard. They helped CREATE this project, and made some music that really changed the level of the whole thing. They were instrumental from start to finish.

2. Uncle P: Where does this project land on your list of very long accomplishments?

Paradime: This one is just DIFFERENT man. I put music on here I woulda never put out before.. but it's cuz I truly don't give a fuck about what anyone thinks anymore.. You know when we were all runnin through the city with 3XL tall T's on and Gucci Air Force 1's, fighting every night, risking our lives and bein idiots?? We were always saying "I don't give a fuck!!" But at that point I did. I cared what cats thought of my music and how I came across no matter how bad I wanted to believe otherwise. We thought were crazy and dangerous, and while we were.. being a 40-something Dad makes you more crazy and dangerous than ANYTHING! haha SO I can truly say now.. I don't give a fuck, and I'll say and sing and rap what I feel like.

3. Uncle P: How has time been away from music? Have you been watching from the executive suite?

Paradime: Man, I built a life and some stability for my family, and put my focus there. I busted my ass bro, and still do, because I want my kids to have a certain kind of life, and when my wife wants to go get her hair done or go shopping, I want her to be able to do that shit. I been BROKE AS HELL for a LONG time, and was sweating about rent, and running my body into the ground. I was on a straight road to the grave, no question. And while I'm not eating kale sandwiches and purified oxygen smoothies all day, and I'm not rich.. I'm also much healthier and much better off.

4. Uncle P: What's your thought on the music industry now, you plan on getting heavily involved again, maybe use the vast wealth of knowledge and OG game to spearhead something new out of Detroit, or restore something like uhhh... Beats at Will maybe? lol

Paradime: The music industry is sad to me.. I'm not doin the old man hater shit, I just truly don't feel much new stuff, and that's ok.  There's some stuff I love, don't get me wrong, but for the most part I'm stuck in my ways musically.  The way cats just throw shit out now, and albums have kinda just gone away, it's sad, but again, it's just the times, you can't fight it.  I don't plan on getting too involved man.. I will say, Beats at Will coulda really been something. But that goes back to what I was just saying before, I was a hot mess man, and made all kinds of mistakes.

5. Uncle P: Over all Dime what caught me most was the personal feel across the board. The selection of music fit the moods perfectly, the conversational flow allows most fans of music to keep up, but its not simple at all. So is "Make My Way" really the swan song?

Paradime: When I wrote it that was the thought. I wanted to say what was goin on in my head and why, and I wanted to say more than that. There's so much history, so many cats involved.. Me and Mikey Eckstein were running around Ann Arbor 4-5 days a week w staple guns and tape dispensers puttin up 11x17 posters, we were basically teenagers.. Living off music. Mark EP, and our by Deez (RIP) would make cassettes and sell 'em out of the basement. Federation Records and Mark Kempf and Rico and AMF.. Shannon Shuler taking us to the studio where we first met Kid Rock.. St. Andrew's Hall watching Em and all the D12 cats become stars from our own city.. The Rhythm Kitchen, The Hip Hop Shop, The Lush Lounge.. Bro..the history..

 6. Uncle P: Its hard for me to pick out my favorites cause its different vibes that could be your fav depending on you mood ya feel me. The porch was a helluva intro but then them pianos get to rocking on Period and im just chester cheesing over here. Pig Pen was a fool on the one and the cuts from Dj Los. Man stop it!  Then you hit us with the self produced "It's Ok" which is a joint I expect to hear walking in the Cheers Bar with you serving drinks educating folks on this dude named Paradime. Joints produced by Peace Of Mind, Foul Mouf and Copywrite gave me the dose of stankface moments i expect from a Paradime project. Dumn from Mr Porter, the features you got from A-Minus, Ty Farris, Marv Won and Guilty Simpson i dont mentioned the whole project. But these personal joints like "Heart of tape" prod by Wayne Gerard, "Sept 22nd" produced by Charlie Beans. Chanes on "ANNIE" really hit home.  What were your favorites and why?

Paradime: Sept 22nd is special man. I've been a public alcoholic for 20+ years.. I finally quit drinking on Sept 22nd and made it almost 2 years.. I felt like explaining that battle like it was a relationship was a way to really explain how deep that gets. It's still a battle I fight man.. But that song really is heavy to me.  Heart on Tape was hard to put out man.. It's obviously very different.. but here I am, literally owing my life to someone, and I want to give her a love song like she deserves.. but I'm no singer. So I did my best to explain that conundrum.. It's real too.. I'm a big talker, Mr. Dime, loudmouth... When I proposed to her? I was a babbling bag of shit. haha I couldn't even form full sentences.. That's when I know something is real..  And Annie?? Man I thank Chanes for that beat like 3x a week.. That beat made that song happen, and to me? That shit is priceless.. Thats timeless hip hop right there.

7. Uncle P: Before you give me any last words, we got any tour dates coming?

Paradime: If I had a penny for every time someone asked WHENS THE RELEASE PARTY?? I would buy a bad ass ski boat bro. hahah

I don't see the old man "touring" but I sometimes think the city deserves one big show.. Just thinking out loud.. But nothin planned... yet.
