Detroit!!! Detroit!!! Detroit!!!
Shit is poppin off in the D, and yet I am not sure the people are really paying the attention they should! How many of you have been to the beat battles? How Many of you have picked up that Trick Trick Album? How Many of you have picked up that Black milk Joint? How many of you are still sleeping on my album of the year thus far, Quest McCody’s “The Light Project”? Shows going down left and right, yet attendance for the most part is scarce! We need artists to support artists, post a fucking myspace bulletin advertising someone elses show, let it be known you coming out to support a show, when we all start breaking bread together, we will all start seeing bread together.
We at DetroitRap.com are putting on a show Dec 12 at the Magic Bag in Ferndale. You ever been to the Magic Bag? Not for a rap show you haven’t. This is the first, and we are looking to blow the roof off that motherfucker. We got D. Allie, Chief, Street Justice, Pony Boy, and Abrasive Method. If we do things right, we hope to start a quarterly showcase at the Magic Bag, and throw artists on the bill that are not usually doing shows together. I wanna see all the artists out at these shows that we have supported and held down. A great Venue, with Great sound, and great management. We got a point to prove..
Obama won the election. I know this aint the Hip Hop thing to say, but I have been a republican for the last 8 years. For me, its all about me cheddar. However, I sat in my bed and teared up when I first saw the McCain concession speech, then the Obama Speech. I think Obama has done something that not many before him were able to do. You See, Martin Luther King had a Dream, Obama has brought that dream to reality. Certain goals for people may have once only seemed like a dream, but today, I truly feel that their are young people all over the world that have a new hope, a new excitement, and a new role model. I am white, and I may not understand everything that my black brothers and sisters go through or have gone through, but I know from many conversations what something like this means to them, and I can’t help but smile, I can’t help but have pride in how far this country has come, knowing it still has a long way to go. I have put my support and faith 100% behind Obama, and I hope he makes some significant changes in this country, because we are definitely in need of something.
