Born in Detroit Michigan, Lance Fisher and Tylando Farris were destined to form a solidified and impeccable partnership in the hip hop scene as none other than Young Famous and 40 Flame. The duo had battled for respect in their home town and worked hard at dropping mixtapes, until their lyrical progress and talent was duly recognised by Detroit legend and mentor, the late Big Proof of D-12. From this encounter Famous and 40 Flame were brought to the helm of the group Purple Gang at Proof’s own label Iron Fist Records. They proceeded to drop heat with mixtape after mixtape, and sure enough their talent was definitely acknowledged in 2005 when they took home a Detroit Hip Hop award for the punchline heavy and bullet ridden classic ‘Hoodfellaz’. In 2006 Famous added to the accolades, when he was awarded "Detroit Hip Hop Awards Lyricist of the Year’, revealing an undeniable respect in the scene for the duo’s talent and lyrical skill.

Young Famous and 40 Flame’s rise to recognition lead to them having done shows with Young Buck, Trick-Trick, Obie Trice, and Slum Village, not to mention a 49 day tour opening for D-12. The buzz behind the duo’s song writing and lyrical expertise has increasingly escalated the demand for Famous and 40 Flame mixtapes. The discs released in totals of 15,000 and more have shown a consistent growth in fan base and interest from major labels has been unrelenting.

The duo recently left Iron Fist Records in a business move to allow their own expansion and progression as artists in the industry. They have been collectively working harder each day and gaining more and more positive feedback and airplay for singles ‘I’m Fresh’ and ‘Dat’s What’s Up’. Young Famous and 40 Flame’s latest mixtape "The Inheritance" hosted by Detroit newcomer DJ Young Mase and DJ Salam Wreck (Shady Records), is yet again a certified classic. The buzz surrounding 40 Flame and Famous just won’t seem to quit, in 2007 it’s almost irrefutable that the duo are onto bigger and better things. Keep your ears open.
